Dogs

There are several different species of dogs found on Xothu.

The CURLY-COATED TERRIER is a small dog with a tendency to yap a lot. It is only kept as a pet but all races have them. They are no good for hunting as they are very loud. Although generally docile, they do bite ankles when annoyed. They are very playful and enjoyed by children. There is little expertise needed when caring for one of these.

The GIANT SAVAGE HUSKY was bred only to fight. It is no good as a pet and can run for hours without tiring. It loves hunting and it only used by humans and orcs. Dwarves are too small to handle them and lilithians haven’t tried. They have very long teeth and claws and most are kept under control with magic. They should never be released near children because it will attack anyone and anything that moves, except its owner.

The TOY DEER HUNTER is a very small dog, which is highly trained at sensing deer and this therefore commonly used for deer hunters. They have been specially bred for that purpose. As well as hunting, they make great pets and can be easily house-trained. These dogs are most commonly found with the Wood Lilithian, Sun Lilithian, and Grand Lilithian races but humans also breed them a lot. The males have tan coloured fur whereas the females are more usually golden in colour.

The LION HOUND is a large, heavyset dog with a characteristic mane, kept as a guard in the Imperial Palaces of Shetugu. Their manes are kept elaborately styled, and they are regarded as a symbol of the Imperial Household- commoners, and even lesser nobles, are forbidden to even look at them, and those who are planning to steal the considerable treasure of the Imperial City are warned that, while robbery itself is a minor crime punishable by fines, merely touching the Lion Hounds is punishable by death. The Lion Hounds are trained to attack on sight.

The CIAPTL is a small, hairless dog bred by the Cicazl for religious sacrifice. They are commonly kept as pets in The Empire of the Moon God Intli, where they are no longer used as sacrifice, but, due to their hairlessness, require significant Totem Armor to protect against frostbite.
