Perhaps an evolutionary branch of the Woodwoses, the Forestfoot is an elusive creature which spends most of its time hiding from anything and everything that moves. Standing at seven feet and covered from head to toe in thick, mossy green fur, the Forestfoot is the epitome of the gentle giant. It vaguely resembles a humanoid, with enormous black eyes and hairy nostrils, a head that is barely distinguishable from the rest of its torso, a massive belly, long, thin arms for reaching into trees for food, and stumpy legs with enormous padded feet. It is these feet which lend the creature its name, as they seem to have magical properties which completely silence the Forestfoot's motion through its woodland habitat. Even when twigs snap under its very feet, this field of magical silence allows for no sound to be heard.

The Forestfoot is one of the most docile creatures in existence. Though it sports a wide mouth full of flat teeth, it uses these only to crush the plants that make up its vegetarian diet. Its favoured method of eating is to nearly swallow an entire branch of a tree and draw it out slowly, using its teeth to rake off leaves, nuts and fruit. It spends much of its time eating, and the rest hiding.

It is not known why the Forestfoot is so afraid of animals, since its size would render it an impossible target for most predators anyway. When it sees, hears, smells or even feels (with its enormous feet, it can detect vibrations in the ground) the presence of another animal, it will immediately abandon its feeding and shuffle silently into the depths of the forest as quickly as it can. If this is not possible, it will attempt its second method of hiding: sitting down with its legs drawn up underneath it, it closes its eyes and nostrils and hunches over, appearing to the untrained eye as nothing but a large mossy root. Thus hidden, it is possible for an unsuspecting animal to get close enough to touch it - or even climb over it - without having the faintest clue of its existence.

It is possible that Forestfoots (the correct plural form) are at least vaguely sapient, but the extent of their intelligence is unknown. There are folk tales in many cultures of Forestfoot dances - mysterious rituals in moonlit glades in the depths of the forest, where Forestfoots from all over the world gather to caper silently through the night. This is unlikely, however, since Forestfoots are believed to be diurnal only, and none have ever been sighted at night. Even in daylight, it takes powerful spells of silence and concealment to get anywhere close to a Forestfoot - it seems they can sense magic from short distances as well.

Forestfoots have been conclusively sighted in the forests of Daramus, Orath and Asivis, and myths in various cultures have led scholars to believe that there are populations in northern Thass and Nova as well. It is unknown how many Forestfoots there are in existence, but they are believed to be either quite rare or even better at hiding than previously believed.
