Kyrosos, once the great city which ruled most of the continent of Asivis during the Age of Ivory (thus named because of the ivory weapons used during the period before Iron was discovered) was a remarkably rich and religious culture.
Their religion constituted also a governmental rule and palace economy by the priestesses of the major goddess of the world, ''Aeylythya''. The priestesses ruled from six temple sites distributed throughout their empire, the Head Priestess of each temple meeting with the others once a year in a Centropinyx(Council of the Centre). This was usually held in the otherwise unpopulated capital, where a cave said to be Aeylythya's dwelling place opened to the sky. It is said that the stalagmites and stalagtites, when reflecting the sun, threw a wide spectrum into the sky and around the marbled columns of the courtyard built before it, but the cave was destroyed by invaders when the Empire crumbled.
****Aeylythya**** : The goddess of femininity and fertility, she represented the cycle of life and death and the constant forces of regeneration within the world. She had a consort, the Anno who died and was born again every New Year's Eve. This regeneration was accompanied by a mysterious festival which only Kyrosian citizens could take part in. The ritual still takes place in the small nation of Kyrosos, although the grandeur and spctacular nature of the religious festival surrounding the practice has become less magnificent. Aeylythya was worshipped in cave sanctuaries, and votive offerings still remain in caves throughout the area which Kyrosos once ruled. Most are small pottery images of the goddess and her symbols (the double axe, the snake, the rook and dove, and the triple sphere), although it is certain that iron, slver, gold and other valuable items were also deposited (these have since been stolen by looters or hidden away in the caves which the Kyrosians still control.
