The northernmost tip of the Upili Peninsula, the Haven Reaches are the only naturally hospitable area of Zikal. Separated by a low ridge from the rest of the peninsula, the reaches are an area of dense, cold grassland, punctuated by streams of meltwater and icy glacial lakes; their southern border marks the edge of the natural Antarctic Treeline- The peninsula is situated in the path of a warm-water current, which has kept it largely ice-free. The Cicazl settlement which became the The Empire of Intli was established here; it remains an important part of the Empire to this day.

There are a few trees in the reaches, but they are tiny, slow-growing, and weathered; it was this lack of trees which kept the Cicazl settlers trapped on Zikal-no proper wood for boats.
