Mood Moth

Mood Moths are a particularly bizarre magical manifestation of a person's temperament. The best theories explaining their presence are that they are the result of A: a disease that is magical in nature, B: the result of the proximity of certain kinds of spirits, or C: the natural result of heavy emotions on extended exposure to a highly magical area. B is though to be the most likely. When one appears, more usually follow, not necessarily from the same person.

Mood Moths have been documented enough to be ruled out as a hoax, and have been sighted everywhere from The Empire of the Moon God Intli, to the Sun Comos on Orath. They are always exactly the same size (wingspan 1.5 inches,) and with identical markings. They are translucent, and leave glowing trails behind themselves as they flit around. They do not mate, or feed, and live for up to two days before they simply disappear. They can also be made to evanesce by concentrating on an emotion that is a polar opposite to the one that spawned them.
The colours vary depending on their emotion.

They appear (the exact conditions in which this happens are still uncertain, as mentioned above) during periods of intense emotion. Suddenly flashing into existence near a being's head and then fluttering around as they will. They can not be physically harmed, though they do seem to have physical substance.
Though there are countless in-between shades, the most common ones are*:
Bright red - Joy
Dark red - Fear
Pink - Hate
Orange - Jealousy
Amber - Pride
Yellow - Jubilation
Dark green - Depression
Light green - Confusion
Turquoise - Introspection
Dark blue - Anger
Light blue - Excitement
Lavender - Awe
Mauve - Passion
Light grey - Intense lack of emotion
Black - Confidence
White - Surprise

*Noting that they do not necessarily conform to traditional colouring of emotion. Oftimes, in cases of multiple moths, the first will be followed by a white one, indicating the person's startlement.
