Necromancy, far from being the despised art most consider it, is an honorable profession that does not constantly attract those of a darker nature. (Though it does have a long history of that.) Most necromancers do have a somewhat morbid nature, but that is attributed to the summonded or displaced dead not being a very happy sort.

It has many sub-schools: ectomancy (magic using spirits of the deceased), medium (communication with the dead), exorcism (banishing spiritual presences), as well as the traditional summoning of spirits, creation of zombies, and lichdom. It is most noted for the Curse of the Vampire, which, depending on the power of the mage, can either make the target attractive to vampires or turn the target into a vampire.
