Town Shield

Mist Magic

History
Widely known throughout history and first used by an Intermediate wizard known locally as Coelath in the year 348. Many stories are told of how armies would come across a town surrounded by the blue mist that is common of this spell. Most of the stories ended in the armies penetrating the wall and seizing the town but these stories are mere legends, for the mist is impossible to break through. There was a young Mountain Dwarf wizard called Glorraent who was paid to cast this spell and do nothing else so that a village was protected constantly. One night he did not notice it had worn off and a Shadow Lilithian army took over the town. The other dwarves killed him once they had re-established themselves in mountain caves.

Description
When this spell is cast, a tall defensive blue mist appears around the town. If you have some buildings separate, the ‘town’ is only the biggest collection of buildings nearest each other. It is completely impossible for humans, dwarves and lilithians to penetrate it but some animals such as dragons and Eternal Insects (who seem capable of just about everything) have been known to.

Casting Time
Approximately 1 minute, but often longer the first time the spell is cast.

Spell Duration
Varies. If a Beginner wizard casts it, it lasts for on day, on average. Intermediate wizards can leave it up for up to a week. Master wizards spell power means that it remains in effect for anyway from a week to a year.

Area of Effect
It depends on how big your town is.

Limitations
The only limits are your resources. This spell can be cast anywhere, even on water if you have a floating village.

Casting Complexity
A wizard of any level can cast this spell.
