Unspeakable Rite of Conjure Nothing

Disciplines
Illusions

History
The Unspeakable Rite was invented at some time in the later half of the Bloodstained Aeon (though perhaps "discovered" would be a better word), by either the Grand Lilithians or the Western Orcs - both began to use the spell at roughly the same time, so it is unclear which race actually brought it into use. It featured greatly in the battle tactics of the Western Orcs' few combat spellcasters, but over time their opponents grew wise to the trick and it became more of a liability than an advantage.

After the Bloodstained Aeon came to a close, use of the spell grew less and less frequent, and today it is used primarily in duels at a low level of magic, in small raids against opponents with little knowledge of spells, or as a practical joke amongst apprentice magi (who, by and large, have a rather geeky sense of humour).

Description
The Unspeakable Rite does precisely what its name attests: it conjures absolutely nothing to aid its caster, merely causing him or her to glow eerily and lend them a booming, otherworldly voice, and for any sudden movement to be accompanied by harmless sparks, puffs of smoke, or loud noises. As such, it is used merely as a distraction or to catch an opponent off guard. The most important part of this spell is not actually the words used, but the hand motions that accompany them, and thus any random incantation that seems suitably frightening can be employed to great effect.

Casting Time
As long as necessary. So long as the hand motions are kept up, the spell can last for hours. It tends to lose much of its dramatic effect after a few minutes, however.

Spell Duration
Once the motions of the spell are complete, it dissipates quickly, so the next move should follow quickly to take advantage of the opponent's confusion.

Area of Effect
The Unspeakable Rite only affects its caster.

Limitations
Obviously, this spell cannot actually harm anyone, and should only be used as a feint. Also, most intelligent spellcasters are aware of its existence, and thus should be able to see it coming.

Casting Complexity
Anyone with hands and a basic understanding of magic can cast this spell.
