Warrior Beast

Description
The Warrior Beast is a fearsome looking creature that would strike terror into anyone. Only stupid people would dare try to fight or kill it. It bears resemblance to a rhinoceros but is quite different. Its skin is about two inches thick, grey and smooth. It is almost impossible to penetrate it, which has bought about the rumour that it is made of metal. It has a fearsome brown horn on its nose and spikes of varying grey shades down its back and along its short, stumpy tail. It has small, black beady eyes and poor eyesight. It relies mostly on scent and sound. It has two large ears, which are always pressed up against the head. Its skin is prized for shields and the horns can also be used as weapons. It takes a lot to kill one of the beasts and is incredibly hard to tame them.

Nourishment
The warrior beast is completely carnivorous, preying on anything it can find. It is not above cannibalism.

Sleep Pattern
They are diurnal, conserving their energy through the night.

Size
As you would probably expect, these animals are rather big. They are six feet high at the shoulder and can be up to ten feet long.

Stamina
Their stamina is surprisingly good, despite their size.

No. Commonly Encountered
Although mostly solitary, sometimes groups of females may join together to work in a herd. Males never do this and only make contact with others when their territory is invaded and during the mating season.

Mental Aptitude
Warrior beasts are not that bright, having a brain the size of a large walnut.

Movement Type
Warrior beasts trundle along on four large flat feet.

Movement Speed
Despite their build and size, warrior beasts have been known to be very fast. The fastest recorded speed is 44 steppes an hour (44km/h) but they usually walk slower, to conserve energy needed for attacking.

Morals/Alignment
Almost all warrior beasts are chaotic and/or evil. Dark elves have trained them and have found they provide much tougher replacements for horses.

Average Life Span
With no natural predators, they can live a long life. Many reach 150 years old, but 180 years is not uncommon.

Habitat and Climate
Warrior beasts are not fussy about where they live. They find a home wherever there is enough food. There are some in the deserted wastelands of the Kingdom of Shattered Lands, and more in the cold mountains of the Kingdom of Dark Stones.

Tactical Information
Warrior beasts do not really plan attacks. They hide, with some difficulty, and wait for the right moment to attack. They are very good at picking the right moment.

Fighting Prowess
Tough and feisty, warrior beasts do not give up fights. They will fight to the death with anything. They win most of the time, attacking with their horns and kicking.

Magical Prowess
Although the warrior beast has no amazing magical powers, its horn contains a red sap-like substance that is an ingredient in some defensive spells. It can be collected from the horn when the animal is dead.

Armour
I think the thick skin says it all…

Unique Attacks & Defences
There are no unique attacks or defences that the warrior beast has to offer.

Magical Immunity
The tough skin of the warrior beast means that very few spells can penetrate it.

A warrior beast.
